شرکت Activision کدهای بازی Dark Reign 2 تحت اجازه‌نامه LGPL منتشر کرد. این شرکت چندی پیش اعلام کرده‌بود که قصد آزاد و متن‌باز کردن این بازی را دارد.
این بازی، یک بازی استراتژی بی‌درنگ است که برای سیستم‌عامل مایکروسافت ویندوز ارائه شده‌است.

طبق نوشته ویکی سورس کد لو رفته و غیرقانونی منتشر شده. In 2011, an unauthorized leak of the complete source code tree to the game was made to the Internet and posted to a Google Code repository with the uploader claiming it to be under an LGPL license. A Hacker News user received confirmation from the repository owner that this was in fact a leak and not an officially-sanctioned code release.[1] The leak also included headers and code from 3rd-party sources with licenses that explicitly forbid public disclosure and redistribution.
